Strategic Q & A

Taking Control of the Q&A process

Your presentation is over and now the questions come rolling in. All that poise and confidence you showed suddenly comes undone when faced with thinking on your feet and handling a wide variety of questions. And no question is more unnerving than the challenging one. What is the best way to answer these types of questions that puts you back in control? In this session we’ll share a strategy for listening for what is really behind all types of questions. Then we’ll provide two techniques for answering challenging questions so that you take control and also maintain a positive relationship with the person asking the question. We’ll also share the five phrases you shouldn’t say and give you an opportunity to practice using questions you are likely to receive.

When you leave this session you will have learned:
  • The five types of questions you are most likely to be asked
  • The what responses you should never give
  • How to use your body language to show interest
  • How to handle complicated questions
  • How to respond when you don’t know the answer
  • Two methods for handling challenging questions
  • How to identify the real meaning behind a question
  • How to segue your answer so that it also includes your agenda
  • How to come across calm and confident
